The gag grouper is known for being a tackle buster. Living primarily close to structure such as natural ledges and artificial reefs they patrol the area looking for baitfish such as pinfish, cigar minnows, threadfin, squid or anything that swims that is not there to eat them! The design came about due to the fact that they are known to be “aggravated attackers” and will hit a lure bounced in front of their face (such as this Spro Jig). Gags aren’t just fun to catch, they also top the taste bud charts.
